"Whatever we do, whatever we approach, there needs to be a purpose, a reason to do something. The purpose of this CD was to release and share the music that had been inside of me for a long time. It reflects experiences, a series of stories, different chapters of my life, ups and downs, lessons I've learned, messages I've received. Music is a healing element - whether you play it, compose it or just listen to it".
"Ray Blue has an essential quality: he owns a big sound, in the tradition of Gene Ammons and Houston Person. A sympathetic album and a rarity for collectors". (Jazz Hot Magazine)
This CD was recorded and mixed by Ahmed Chouraqui at On Air Recording Studio with Ray Blue (Tenor Sax), Kenny Martin (Drums), Rolf Zielke (Piano) and Martin Lillich (Bass).

Recorded at Kiars Theatre May 21 & 22.2004
Ray Blue - Saxophone
Manuel Lopez III - Drums
Evan Mazunik - Piano
Greg Mazunik - Bass
In May of 2004 Liars Theatre hosted two nights of phenomenal concerts by Ray Blue. Backed by Evan Mazunik on piano, Greg Mazunic on bass and Manuel Lopez III on drums, Ray´s music came to life on the Liars stage. In November of 2004 the first recording from those concerts was released, predominantly featuring Ray´s original tunes. As its counterpart, this second CD is a selection of Ray´s arrangements of Coltrane, Monk, Sigmund Romberg, Oscar Hammerstein II and more. Ray´s arrangements and playing style infuse new life and energy into each tune with spirited experimentation and expansive riffs.
Ray, Evan, Greg and Manny conjured their own scientific lab on on our stage and performed impassioned tests on the subjects of rhythm, harmony and groove. What a night!

"When Ray plays at Liars, the cats wail 18 karat. Translated -- in case you aren’t the hippest daddy-o with the jazz lingo – Blue and his sax have this supernatural power that transforms mere music into extraordinary stuff of jazz legend. On this CD, one of the Live at Liars series, Blue plays light, and dark, magician yet mortal, through seven tracks, all but one written by Blue, who is an accomplished composer, arranger and performer on tenor, alto and soprano saxophones. The odd track out, So What, by Miles Davis, is played by Blue with effortless complexity. The other five tracks are equally playful, as effortless, and just as complex. A masterful cat wailing 18-karat". (Review by the Liars Theatre)
